Forest Week - the history of the holyday

The Forestry Guild celebrates its "Forest Week" every year in the first full week of April. This year marks the 95th anniversary of its first commemoration, although actions to restore, manage and conserve the Bulgarian forests begin immediately after the Liberation in 1878. The newly created state initially establishes security units for foot and horse forest guards from local administrations. One year later, on July 5, 1879, an independent Sector for Forestry Supervision was established at the State Property and Ores Division of the Ministry of Finance, which marked the beginning of the State Forest Service in Bulgaria.
