May - Biodiversity Month

May - the greenest month of the year has been declared the month of biodiversity. But what is biodiversity and what does it give us? Biodiversity - the diversity of life on earth - makes our planet habitable and beautiful. Many of us turn to the natural environment for pleasure, inspiration, or entertainment. We are also dependent on it for food, energy, raw materials, air, and water - the elements that allow life to exist as we know it and drive our economies. Despite its unique value, however, we often take nature for granted. . The pressure on many natural systems is increasing and this makes their functioning less efficient and even puts them on the verge of collapse. This leads to the loss of biodiversity. What can each of us do to conserve biodiversity? First of all, not to pollute nature. Disposal of waste in nature has an impact on the environment and often has catastrophic consequences. That is why we need to dispose of waste only in designated areas and recycle what is recyclable! Secondly, we can reduce water waste as well as reduce the use of electricity and paper. It is important to follow certain rules of conduct, especially if we are in a protected area, such as the Rila Monastery Nature Park. When walking in nature, be careful: Make as little noise as possible and if you want to observe wildlife. Always walk on the paths - so there is less risk of disturbing the animals or crushing plants, mosses, mushrooms ... If you take a dog with you, keep it on a leash and be careful not to go out of the path. Make sure it does not bark or scare any nearby animals. By the way, if you hope to see them, you better leave your faithful friend at home. And so we can all do something to help conserve biodiversity. That is why each of us must join, and so gradually all the small changes taken together will become a big change that preserves biodiversity.
