Dear visitors and friends of Rila Monastery Nature Park,
For a second day now, efforts continue to battle a wildfire that broke out in the Rila Mountains. The flames have already destroyed over 60 decares of pine forest and shrubland. Firefighters, military personnel, forest rangers, and volunteers are working tirelessly under extremely challenging conditions – high temperatures and rough terrain are making the task even more difficult.
This fire is not just a natural disaster.
It is a warning to all of us – that protecting nature is a shared and personal responsibility.
⚠️ One cigarette. One spark. One moment of carelessness – and hundreds of decares are lost.
