MonitoringDuring monitoring activities on the territory of the Rila Monastery Nature Park, conducted regularly by the park's experts, traces of the largest mammal - a bear - were found.
The bear is an endangered species listed in the Red Book of Bulgaria. It is protected by the Biodiversity Act. It is protected by the Berne Convention (Annex II), the Habitats Directive (Annex II and Annex IV), CITES (Annex II).
Therefore, be careful if you decide to take a walk in the area of Iliyna River, follow only the marked trails, and follow the safety recommendations in the mountains.
To prevent meeting a bear, experts recommend moving in groups and talking, so the bears feel the approach of people and move away.
