NEWS /Herbs aroma in the school "Averkiy Popstoyanov" in the town of Rila
On the eve of the big holiday, dedicated to the medicinal plants - Midsummer's Day, the experts from the Directorate of Rila MonasteryNature Park visited Primary School "Averkiy Popstoyanov" in Rila. All students gathered in the schoolyard to learn from experts about the healing properties of the most common herbs in the park, as well as the legends and beliefs that accompany this day, prepared and told by their classmates. One of them says that on this day the sun "flickers and plays" and just then the various herbs have the greatest healing power.
The most skillful of the students took part in the making of a large wreath of herbs, through which later passed not only the children but also their teachers, for health.
At the end of the celebration, the students took a quick course on conservation and collection of medicinal plants and planted herbs in the school garden, which they promised to take care of.
Enyovden is a holiday in the Bulgarian national calendar, which is celebrated on June 24 every year. On the same date, the church celebrates the Birth of St. John the Baptist.
