NEWS /The Holy Road ”- in the footsteps of St. Ivan Rilski

Today, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Rila Monastery in connection to the end of the "Holy Road" - in the footsteps of St. Ivan Rilski.

 

The pilgrimage hike is organized to mark the 550th anniversary of the return of the relics of St. John of Rila the Wonderworker from Turnovo to the Rila Monastery this year. The Holy Road march began on June 30 from the town of Veliko Tarnovo and goes along the route by which the relics were returned by monks back to the Rila Monastery in the 15th century (1469). The total length of the hike is about 600 kilometers.
